A Natural Path to College
Feeling lost in the college application process? Frustrated by the Common App essay? Not sure which schools to apply to?
You're not alone, and you don't have to figure it out by yourself.
I'm a college admissions consultant who works with high school students on the college application process. My goal is to help you build an authentic, compelling application that positions you well for selective colleges and universities, all while minimizing stress and anxiety. Many of my students find they enjoy the process.

Services
I work with students on the following:
College Essay Coaching:
We work through the essays (Common App, UC PIQs, and supplementals) step by step — brainstorming topics, drafting, revising (as many times as you need), and finishing with polished, submitted essays that sound like you.
Extracurriculars List:
We'll organize everything you've done — sports, music, community service, leadership, clubs — and shape your experiences into an activities list that presents you in the best possible light.
College List and School Selection:
We’ll identify the best-fit colleges and universities for you and build a smart, balanced list.
How we work together:
If you are in the Seattle area, we can work together in person. I also work virtually with students across the United States and internationally.

About me
I’m an Ivy League-educated lawyer turned college admissions consultant. After seeing what it took to get my own children into Princeton, Columbia, Brown, and Dartmouth, I realized I wanted to help other students do the same. I hold a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from UC Irvine.
Having lived and worked in England, the Netherlands, France, and the United States, I specialize in working with students who live outside the United States or have international backgrounds. My previous students have come from India, the Middle East, the United Kingdom, and the Seattle area, where I’m currently based.

Results
I work with a small, selective group of students, which means each student gets my full attention.
My students have been admitted to: Boston University, Brown, Case Western, Dartmouth, Duke, Elon, Georgia Tech, Macalester, Rice, University of Michigan, UCLA, UC San Diego, University of Washington, and Washington University in St. Louis, among others.
Reviews
Here’s what some of my former students have to say:
Sophie was an invaluable guide throughout my college application journey. From brainstorming and refining my personal essays to drafting letters for financial aid, she provided me with much-needed support that helped me navigate the process with confidence. I can't recommend her enough to anyone looking for guidance with their college applications. (Student at Duke)
Sophie took a systematic approach to revamping my resume to fit MBA programs. She quickly ascertained the key attributes each school was looking for in a candidate and characterized all the existing content in my resume to assess how well it matched up to those attributes. Her analysis gave me a clear roadmap to rewrite my resume to successfully match the programs I applied to. With her help I was able to bring my resume up to snuff with only one round of thorough edits. Resumes are a key element of business school applications, and Sophie was invaluable in helping me successfully tell my story to the admissions committees. (MBA student with multiple acceptances, including Harvard, Wharton, and Stern)
Sophie is a great teacher. Not only did she help me with my college essays, but she also helped me unlock my writing potential in general. She goes through the process very slowly and carefully which helped me understand how to maximize the potential of my essays. She was great to work with and did a great job answering my questions and being available to help. She also helped me understand how to best do my college research and how to smoothly incorporate different concepts into my essays. I would definitely recommend her for helping with your college essays. (Student at Elon)
